If you've lived in Dubai for a while, chances are someone's already dragged you to Creek Park for a picnic — and there's a good reason it keeps coming up. Tucked along the water in Umm Hurair, it's one of the city's oldest parks, and honestly one of the few places where a full family day out won't cost you much more than the metro fare to get there. Entry is AED 5, tapped in with your Nol card.
Once you're in, there's a lot to wander into. The cable car glides you above the creek for a completely different view of the city — old and new Dubai on either side of the water. There's a mini train for the little ones who'd rather not walk the whole park, a small 18-hole golf course, and bikes you can rent by the hour, including the four-seater ones that always end up being the highlight of the trip. Bring a cooler and claim one of the BBQ spots, or just spread a blanket under a tree and let the afternoon disappear.
Two of the bigger draws — the Dubai Dolphinarium and Children's City — sit inside the park but need their own separate tickets. Worth planning for if a dolphin show or a science exhibit is on the agenda.
Whatever kind of day you're after, a quiet walk, a packed schedule, or somewhere in between, Creek Park tends to bend to whatever mood you show up with.
At the gate: It's AED 5 a person, and it's Nol card only — no cash, so top up before you head over if you haven't already. Kids under 2 get in free, as do People of Determination.
Inside the park: The cable car, Dolphinarium, Children's City, mini golf, and bike rentals all have their own ticket counters. If you're planning on doing more than one, it's worth keeping a bit of extra balance on your Nol card or some cash handy.
Getting there: The closest metro stop is Dubai Healthcare City on the Green Line — it's a 15-20 minute walk from there to Gate 1, so factor that in if it's a hot day. Driving is easy too, just know that parking near the gates fills up fast on weekend evenings, so getting there a little early saves you the circling.
- You'll need a Nol card for entry — cash won't work at the gate
- The Dolphinarium, Children's City, cable car, mini golf, and bikes are all ticketed separately from park entry
- BBQs are welcome, but only at the designated spots with the fixed grills — no portable ones
- Weekends and public holidays get busy, especially in the evenings
- Most of the park is outdoors, so sun protection and comfortable shoes go a long way
- No pets, unfortunately
