Short answer: yes, in moderation. Boredom gives children the space to invent games, solve problems, and use their imagination.
What Happens When a Child Is Bored
The absence of an immediate source of entertainment, forces children to decide for themselves of how to react. While complaining may be the initial reaction, this empty space can become a trigger for creativity. This trigger can lead a child to invent a game, make an interesting drawing, build something with what’s available, create a unique story, observe their surroundings, or simply let their thoughts wander
This does not mean that every moment without a screen will magically produce creativity. Nor does it mean that children should be kept away from technology.
The point is balance.
Children need access to the opportunities of the digital world, but they also need the chance to experience slower forms of discovery and exploration. A digital break can create room for activities that build sustained attention and repeated trial & error.
Final Thoughts:
Parents can therefore see that boredom does not always need to be avoided. Instead, it can make room for patience, persistence and creativity.
