Crescent Camps encourage learning for girls, boys, and youth ages 4–13 through creativity, innovation, sport, collaboration, and leadership. ------ CAMP DETAILS ------ - Crescent Camps are open to girls, boys, and youths ages 4–13 years. All programs are one week in length and weeks can be mixed and matched to suit your family's schedule. Camps run from 8:45 a.m.–3:45 p.m. Monday to Friday. There is no camp on Monday, July 1 (Canada Day) and Monday, August 5 (Simcoe Day). Camp offerings include: Hot lunch On-site nurse Before and After Care (additional fee applies) Low ropes once a week Weekly camp spirit day ------ CAMP TYPES ------ A) ARTS & MEDIA CAMP - ARTsplosion: Campers will stretch their imaginations with drawing, painting, crafting, sculpture design, and music throughout the week. - Bakers' Academy: Campers will learn all about kitchen safety and baking techniques, as they make their very own cookies, cupcakes, and more. - Budding Architects: Campers will develop their creativity and imagination as they explore visual thinking, design, urban/environmental planning, and scale and structure. Landscape Painting: This camp will also cover the application of oil techniques, simplification in drawing, and the use of textures and palette knife painting. Manga Camp will explore gestures, energy, and anatomy of creating characters, in an environment that is friendly to all skill levels. Movie Making campers will learn multiple filmmaking skills, and how to take an idea from the pre-production stage all the way to a finished product. Nourish & Flourish in the Kitchen: Campers will learn how to make their very own meal in a kitchen, with an emphasis on food safety, understanding cooking elements, and how to work as a team to cook a tasty lunch each day. Theatre Arts: Acting, writing, and improv! In Theatre Arts camp, participants will explore their creativity through acting exercises, with an emphasis on building confidence. B) BUSINESS AND WORLD AFFAIRS - Bulls & Bears: Campers will learn about investing with a hands-on, age-appropriate curriculum, filled with games, lessons, and much more! - Entrepreneur & Marketing campers will learn how to create and sell a product or service; from finding their market, and gearing ads towards their target demographic, to using social media as a key marketing tool. - Model UN: This camp offers a crash course into the purpose and function of the United Nations and will finish with an age-appropriate Model UN simulation. - Money matters! Campers will have fun while learning how money works and developing good financial habits, an essential life skill for independence and ambition. C) CURIOSITY - Adventure camp is the perfect place for campers who are looking for a fun, exciting, and enriching way to spend their summer days. Programming for campers is dynamic and includes opportunities to explore STEM and the outdoors. - Challenge campers will enjoy fun activities that challenge them to work collaboratively using a holistic approach, to take on age-appropriate critical thinking activities in the arts, science, and leadership. - Chess & Strategy Board Games Camp teaches campers of all skill levels about different styles of play in chess, all while also enjoying some of the best strategy games including Risk, Catan, and Ticket to Ride. - Discovery camp is the perfect place for campers who are looking for a fun, exciting, and enriching way to spend their summer days. D) INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY - Advanced Robotics camp provides campers the opportunity to strengthen competition skills with topics from the 2023 VEX IQ Challenge. - Campers will use CoSpaces to create and code an AR/VR experience to share with others. - Beginner Robotics camp gives young people an opportunity to engage in science, technology, engineering, and math, to build robots in a supportive and challenge-based setting. - TECHsplosion campers will learn to use computers and technology in a safe and fun environment, which will emphasize creativity and collaboration. E) SPORTS - Campers in Multisport will have the opportunity to practice and play games such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, and floorball. - Campers in Racquet Sports camp will learn, practice, and play games in squash, badminton, pickleball, and table tennis. - Soccer camp offers campers the opportunity to learn and improve dribbling, passing, and playing techniques through a variety of drills and games. SPORTsplosion offers campers the opportunity to develop several motor skills through plenty of outdoor and indoor sports. Activities range from team sports like soccer, basketball, and t-ball, to camp games such as tag, scavenger hunts, and capture the flag.
