Camp Hurontario’s spectacular location in the Thirty Thousand Islands of Georgian Bay, two hours north of Toronto, offers the ideal setting for a wide range of outdoor summer activities, including canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, swimming, rock climbing, ropes, archery, fishing, biology and arts. Activities and Programs: Campers engage in a variety of outdoor activities, including: Canoeing and canoe tripping Kayaking Sailing Windsurfing Swimming Rock climbing Ropes courses Archery Fishing Biology studies Arts and crafts The camp's unique island setting provides an ideal environment for these activities, with protected waters for swimming and kayaking, and open bays suitable for sailing. Sessions: Camp Hurontario offers various session lengths to accommodate different needs: - Introductory Camp: 5 to 9-day programs for boys aged 5 to 8. - Two-Week Sessions: Designed for campers aged 7 to 13, providing a taste of camp life. - Three and a Half Week Sessions: Recommended for a more immersive experience, allowing time for campers to adjust, gain independence, and develop social skills. - Space for the two-week programs is limited, and early registration is encouraged. Leadership Training: For older campers, the camp provides a Leadership Training Program, preparing them for future roles as counselors. This program includes organizing and leading camp activities and participating in extended canoe trips, such as 20-day white-water adventures to regions like James Bay, Labrador, and the Arctic. Facilities: The camp's main island houses well-spaced wooden cabins accommodating up to eight campers, a dining hall with original furniture, a recreation hall for events and performances, and a medical center staffed by a residential nurse practitioner. The surrounding waters and additional camp-owned properties enhance the outdoor experience.
