Overview of Valens Lake Conservation Area

Looking for a northern feel without the drive? Valens Lake offers you the look and feel of the ‘north’, right in your own backyard! The area is a 300-hectare mecca for campers, anglers, and outdoor lovers alike. ------ HIGHLIGHTS ------ A) Cabins: Valens Lake is now offering an exciting and new overnight accommodation, the Drumlin Cabins! These cabins are brand new, and offer options for occupancy, from 1-6 people, in three different cabin layouts. B) Valens Lake is a popular family campground with 225 campsites, including 125 sites with electrical and water hookups, 6 group areas, and walk-in sites. Campsites offer lake views and forest-covered areas, radio-free zones, and is alcohol-free year-round. Up to six people are permitted per campsite. One vehicle is free with your permit. Additional vehicles require an additional vehicle permit and will be charged at the time of check-in. Check-in is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and check-out is 1 p.m. Camping is available year-round. Sites are reserved from April 1 to October 31 and can be booked up to 11 months in advance of your stay. In the off-season (November 1 to March 31), sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. C) Hiking Trails: Enjoy 10 kilometres of trail, 300-metre wetland boardwalk, and even an observation tower, offering a stunning view of the surrounding forests and lake. While beautiful at any time of year, autumn has become a popular viewing season due to the migrating waterfowl and color changes in the area landscape. D) Picnicking E) Boating: Explore Valens Lake by boat in a kayak, canoe, or row boat. Fish from the boat or just enjoy the scenery and wildlife of Valens Lake. Gasoline motors are not permitted on the lake. Canoes, kayaks, and row boats are available to rent for a full or half day. Visit the Boat House to rent your boat. Lifejackets are included with all boat rentals. F) Fishing: There are great fishing opportunities in the reservoir, and you can fish from a boat, shoreline and docks located around the reservoir. Some native species that you will find in the reservoir include; Northern pike, Largemouth bass and a variety of panfish. G) Any summer day, swimmers and sunbathers can enjoy the sandy beach, and natural swimming area. Enjoy the Beach store, featuring pre-packaged snacks and cool treats to add that special something to your picnic lunch.
