As the UAE’s first, fully sustainable school, Fairgreen continues on with their mission to introduce the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) into their curriculum, campus and education whenever and wherever they can. And with that in mind, for the new school year, Fairgreen has recently partnered with a sustainable business called
Etuix to create a line of sustainable school bags, by up-cycling 500 sq. m. of PVC billboards.
Etuix is a fashion-conscious brand, who uses the large scale billboards from Dubai roads to create useable, fashionable bags. Their main mission is "Don't spend to destroy, invest to create", and the company has designed and created an exclusive range of bags, for the Fairgreen community. Every bag is unique, providing an added incentive for students, and teachers, to purchase one of these bags, in support of this one of a kind, sustainable initiative.
Matteo Boffa, the owner and founder of Etuix, was inspired by the environment and recycling, and established the UAE-based company to upcycle billboards into fashionable accessories, thereby reducing carbon emissions. Etuix donates some of its proceeds to non-profit organisations who are engaged in eco-sustainable projects, which is another great reason that Fairgreen International School has partnered with them.
“With sustainability and innovation being a key focus for the school, our goal at Fairgreen is to create a learning community that instils the knowledge and habits of sustainability. We have incorporated several initiatives such as our upcycled school bags to provide our teachers, students, and even parents, a range of opportunities that put this learning into action and raise awareness,” said Mr. Graeme Scott, Director, Fairgreen International School.
Now here’s a school whose graduates will make a true impact in the years ahead!
