Sharjah – Discover Things to do with the kids

Looking for something new and different to try this weekend with the family? Have you ever been to Sharjah? There is so much to do with kids of all ages, from water fun, to discovering sea animals, to learning about space and how things work. Surely there is enough to keep the whole family entertained!

  1. The Rain Room

Walk in the rain without getting wet! The Rain Room, a part of Sharjah Art Foundation, is a unique art installation that uses recycled water, providing a continuous stream of rainfall. With special trigger motion sensors, the room detects movements and pauses the rain wherever you are. A fun experience for the whole family with plenty of photo-snapping moments.

You can buy tickets at the venue or book online to choose a specific time-slot in advance. Book in advance if you’re heading there on busy days.
– Each visit is a 15min session
– Only 6 people are allowed in at a time
– Children need to be supervised at all times

While you wait for your session to start, you can grab a dessert and drink at Fen Cafe & Restaurant that’s right next to the entrance desk.

  1. Sharjah Discovery Centre

Teach your children through play at this museum packed with so many different things to discover. The center is divided into seven major areas featuring a variety of entertainment ideas including The Drive Town, Airport, Build Town, petroleum refinery, TV studio, Climbing Walls, Sound Zone and an area dedicated to teaching the human anatomy.

  1. Sharjah Aquarium

Explore the fascinating hidden world of the deep sea with all of its amazing creatures at the Sharjah Aquarium. Your whole family can enjoy an up-close look at the local fish and learn about Sharjah’s historic coasts and ports.

Prices: Ages 13yrs+ AED 25 – Ages 2-12yrs AED 15 – Below 2yrs FREE

  1. Sky Watch @Al Noor island

Get carried away with your family and explore the night sky with “Sky Watch” where you can spend time viewing the moon, visible planets and engage in a basic stargazing session by using the center’s powerful professional telescopes.

  1. Butterfly House @Al Noor island

Interact with over 500 species of exotic butterflies in their natural habitat, in this haven that resembles something straight out of fairytales. It has been ergonomically designed to let in natural light and retain humidity to be the perfect refuge for all kinds of butterfly species. Within the House, you’ll also find a gift shop and a cafe where you can pause in the middle of all the exploring.

  1. Sharjah Classic Cars Museum

Put your toy cars aside and explore this one of a kind museum that displays more than 100 classic cars manufactured in the early 20th century. Learn about the automotive industry history through a wide range of classic cars collection showcased under one roof.

Get an up-close look at classic car models like Rolls Royce, Ford, Mercedes, Chevrolet, Bentley and many others. The museum organizes interactive activities and experiments suitable for all ages.

  1. Mini Splash Park @ Al Majaz Waterfront

There is nothing more fun for kids than being able to enjoy splashing around in the waterfalls, exploring the water tunnels and watching exciting aquatic displays flow around the 800 square metre Mini Splash Park. Get your kids soaked at the Mini Splash Park, which is the first of its kind in the region and has been designed to be completely safe and suitable for all children.

  1. Sharjah Science Museum

Explore science with your little ones in a very fun and interactive environment. Together you can discover a world of science and exploration including hands-on experiments, laws of nature, thermal physics, physiology and aerodynamics. Take part in electricity demonstrations, explore space secrets and mysteries, test your reactions and discover your potentials and capabilities.

  1. Al Qasba – Ariel

Follow the story of beautiful mermaid, Ariel as she falls in love with a handsome human prince, bargains with Ursula the Sea Witch, and explores the world above the sea with her friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and officious court composer Sebastian the crab.

Based on the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, and the wildly popular Disney film, this musical
staging of The Little Mermaid features a funny and fanciful book by Doug Wright, with the beloved score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Glenn Slater in an expanded but completely faithful form, featuring the rambunctious and persuasive “Under the Sea”, the romantic expectation of “Kiss the Girl” and that anthem of longing and belonging, “Part of Your World”.

Teach your boys and girls through theatre in these spectacular, instructive and immersive theatre pieces meant for children. All the stories are beautiful adaptations of well-known fairytales using dance, music and special visuality, and the shows are a wonderful way to teach children about ancient stories, history, music and increasing their self-confidence.
