How to beat boredom at home and get stuff done at the same time

It’s hot and you’re stranded at home with some wriggling balls of energy that need to be kept busy and you’ve got stuff to do around the house. Put down the iPad, step away from YouTube and create some domestic fun with a competitive edge. Here are some of our ideas to tire out the kiddos when you’re homebound.   Get your swimsuits on and set up a window washer race. Fill up some buckets with soapy water and get the stop watch out. Have the kids race each other washing the windows (ground floor only please folks). Open up the garden doors and scrub away the sandy grime as quickly as you can. Loser gets a bucket of water on the head and if anyone missed a bit then rinse and repeat.   If your home is anything like ours it is continuously having dirt traipsed through it, but mostly sand sand and more sand. So even if the place was cleaned top to bottom yesterday the chances are that it needs another whip round. Have the kids do it whilst incorporating their best dance moves. It’s a vacuum dance competition, but someone has to be Simon Cowell. It’s a yes from us.   You’ll be working up an appetite with all of this hard graft, every cleaning champion needs to refuel after all. Find your favourite meal or snack recipe and create your own cooking TV show. Prepare your ingredients just like Gordon Ramsey and film it for real or just pretend, it’s up to you. If you have some talented film editors at home, you could even shoot a new episode every week. Now that sounds like a productive day in more ways than one. For your next venture out of the house be sure to check out Kidzapp to find out what’s going on near you.
