Escape the busy city and come enjoy the calmness and purity of Al Sorat Farm which happens to be home to a variety of farm animals that your children can play and engage with. They breed goats and sheep for breeding stock, have rescue horses, donkeys, a water buffalo, mules, a couple of cows, and an aviary full of poultry! They also have a pack of dogs who wander freely around the farm. The place is ideal for a relaxing day outdoors, with plenty of grass to run on, sand to dig in, rocks to find and collect, and on warm days they also have splashing pools for kids to enjoy. Admission fee includes a half hour horse ride at the farm or a half hour trail ride for visitors over 10 years old. You are free to bring your own lunchbox or get in touch with them directly to allow them to arrange for a delicious lunch prior to your visit (Lunch must be booked in advance). -- LUNCH-- The lunch menu varies according to what's in season, but it is always prepared fresh from natural ingredients and includes a meat dish for carnivores, cooked vegetables, rice, salads, and fruit. The non-meat dishes are generally vegan. They provide tea, Nescafe, and water from their very own well. Everything offered is healthy! If you want soft drinks or juice, please bring them yourselves (they are not provided/sold at the farm). -- TIPS-- - The location is about 1 to 2 km south of Sakkara Country Club, which is south of Shabramant between the pyramid complexes of Giza and Abu Sir. Once you get near the entrance to Sakkara Country Club, you can ask anyone where “Madame Maryanne” is. - DOGS: Al Sorat Farm is home to a number of dogs who wander around the farm. They range in age from puppies to ten years or so and in size from medium to very large. They have a Great Dane who is taller than most small children, but very gentle. They are all completely vaccinated, are trained to respond to conversational requests such as “Go away”. They are kind and have all grown up with infants and small children. They are not locked up and are never tied. Balloons are not allowed for the safety of the dogs and other animals and they ask that no one feed the dogs ANYTHING. The house is off-limits to guests and is the dogs’ safe space where they retire to have a nap or get away from visitors. Anyone who is truly afraid of dogs is actively encourage not to come. The farm owners ask that parents instruct children not to scream as this is frightening to all the animals. Pets are not allowed on the farm.
