The Little Gym, located in Ibn Battuta Mall Dubai, is a child development centre offering a wide range of programs that are all age appropriate for children between the ages of 4 months to 12 years old. The gym focuses on their 3 main philosophies of “Get Moving, Brain Boost and Citizen Kid” concentrating on the development of flexibility, strength, and balance; listening and decision-making skills as well as sharing, teamwork, and cooperation. I took Leila to join a parent/child class with instructor Zahir and I must admit, even I enjoyed the class. Zahir was attentive to the needs of each child in the class and made sure to explain each exercise very carefully, making the parent understand exactly how they can assist their children in a safe manner and what each specific exercise was helping the child develop. It was a fun learning environment, with music, singing, and dancing and I also like the fact that children are not forced to participate in activities if they prefer exploring the gym instead. The class starts off with a welcome song to introduce yourself to the group and then the fun and games begin. Through music, song, and dance you are taught different movements such as handstands, cartwheels, and tumbles. The gym is equipped with soft mats that cover the entire floor space, balancing beams at different heights as well as high bars and balancing frames. The introduction of bubbles, tambourines, bells, and balls makes the class fun and interactive for the little ones. The Little Gym is a membership-based program and to register you are required to pay a fee of AED 210. The class fees start at AED 160 per class with packages available at a lower rate.
