As the UAE’s first, fully sustainable school, Fairgreen continues on with their mission to introduce the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) into their curriculum, campus and education whenever and wherever they can. And with that in mind, Fairgreen has recently partnered with a sustainable business called Etuix.
Etuix is a fashion-conscious brand, who use up-cycled billboards from Dubai, to create useable, fashionable bags. Their main mission is “Don’t spend to destroy, invest to create”.
Fairgreen International Schools’, partnership with them, is an opportunity for the school, as a community and as part of the children’s’ education, to buy unique hand-crafted bags, for their students to bring to school. Etuix have designed and created a range of bags, made out of recycled and repurposed billboards, exclusively for Fairgreen. No one bag is the same – and children in the school and the rest of the community are persuaded to purchase one of these bags, in support of this one of a kind, sustainable initiative.
Matteo, the owner and founder of Etuix, was inspired by waste, and came up with this local based company (meaning an almost zero carbon footprint. Etuix donates some of its proceeds to non-profit organisations who are engaged in eco-sustainable projects, which is another great reason that Fairgreen International School has partnered with them. For both the school and the company, it seems like a match made in heaven, by helping the children learn about sustainability, recycling and fashion even at the same time! Since some of the proceeds are going to non – profit organisations also, children learn the meaning of charity and supporting something, without expecting something in return. Now that is clever education!
