Fun ideas for play using only things that you’ve got lying around at home…

Entertaining our little ones 24/7 has become the new norm these days, and without the option of being able to pop outside for a walk in the park or splash on the beach, we’re having to become more creative than ever as parents to keep our kids busy. Below are some of our picks for some awesome ways to play as a family.

1. Hop On A Virtual Roller Coaster Ride

A super fun way to make your kiddies feel like they’re at the theme park (while you get to work out your arms). All you need is a TV or laptop and a laundry basket. Start playing and find plenty of virtual theme park rides here.

2. Spot The Difference

A take on the classic “Spot The Difference”, this game will challenge you to identify what has changed about a player’s appearance. Did they put on a hat, remove a sock or perhaps tucked their hair behind their ear? Get out your wardrobe and start playing.

3. Create A Town Inside A Cardboard Box

Cut up some of your delivery boxes, get your markers out and let your kids’ imagination run wild as they design their own landscape on the bottom of the box. Drop in some of their animal toys and action figures and get involved!

4. Create A Simple Lightbox Theatre

Engage your little ones with a super simple DIY lightbox theatre. With just a cardboard box, baking sheet and tape, you and kiddies will be able to have some fun and a giggle as you create amazing stories in the dark together.

5. Set Up A Balloon Tennis Match

Also known as “paper plates tennis”, this is a low-cost way of keeping your kiddies engaged in fun, light sports at home.

6. Practice Your Aim With A Spiderweb Paper Toss Game

A fun and simple ball-and-target-style game for your young kiddies. If your older kids want to have a go at it, create a spiderweb with larger holes to make it more challenging.

7. Play Some Oldschool Charades

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that give the greatest fun and giggle. Here are 101 ideas for your kids to act out.

Here’s another way to utilize your cardboard delivery boxes. Cut up some different-sized and shaped holes in them, get a ball out and make a competition out of it! The person with the most points, wins!

Entry into restaurants inside malls are, however, still not permitted for this group.
