It’s around this time, every year, that many of our favourite family events and activities tend to pop up again around town. And we’ve made it easy for you and rounded up 10 of the ones you simply cannot miss! From exciting carnival fun to out-of-this-world experiences, your weekends are about to level up!
1. Dubai Miracle Garden
Escape to floral bliss with your family as you explore the awe-inspiring flower designs and structures. Dubai Miracle Garden is home to 70 flower varieties and approximately 100 million blooming flowers that are sure to amaze your littles! Be sure to pass by the structure of an Airbus 380 that has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest floral arrangement.
2. Global Village
Take your little ones on an around-the-world trip in just a day at Global Village where culture, food and festivities from across the globe come together in one place. There are amusement rides and arcade-style games to keep kids busy as well as a play area and live performances.
Don’t miss a chance to ride on the 58m high ‘Wheel of the World’ Ferris wheel, or dig into food from around the globe from the multicultural floating market. The weekly fireworks show and stage performances make for the perfect carnival atmosphere for your whole family to have a blast.
Some main attractions include the Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum, Kids Theatre Shows, Stunt Show, and tons of fun carnival games and theme park rides! This season, there will be fireworks on Thursdays and Fridays during the evening and a concert featuring international artists every Friday at 9pm.
3. IMAGINE 3D Light & Water Show
Head over to Dubai Festival City Mall after sunset, where you and the kiddos can experience IMAGINE, an immersive show combining 30 fountains, lights and surround sound – a feast for all your senses and sure to amaze both you and your littles.
There are 3 shows that run daily including A Child’s Dream, a show that weaves together towering aeroplanes, magical whales, a mystical tree-house and giant dancing robots into a whimsical tale set to a soundtrack that fuses diverse genres such as modern pop, rock and electronic music. From 8pm daily, you can also catch A Pirate’s Tale, an epic battle between pirates and a loyal Dubai Pearl Diver, Ameer. And lastly, there’s Star Dancer, an artistic adventure about a girl who gracefully glides through the cosmos and finds her own way to converse with the stars and planets that surround her.
4. The Ripe Market at Police Academy Park
Spend your weekends at Dubai’s much-loved outdoor market and enjoy kids’ activities, a farmer’s market and shopping stalls offering items from homegrown brands. And while you grab a picnic spot and dig into yummies from a wide selection of cafés and eateries, you and your littles can bob along to the tunes of entertaining live music.
Your kiddies will have plenty to do whether it’s blowing off some steam in the free kids playground, getting up close and personal with animals at the petting zoo or even hopping on a pony for a ride around the lawn.
5. Dubai Garden Glow
Also back in season is this must-try family attraction that brings you three theme parks all in one place; Glow Park, the largest glow-in-dark garden made of millions of energy-saving bulbs and yards of recycled luminous fabric. Dinosaur Park, the biggest Dinosaur park displaying more than 120 animatronic dinosaurs. And if you want to have your mind blown, you can enter a visually stunning world of mesmerizing optical illusions at the Magic Park (entry at an extra fee).
6. Black Pearl Sightseeing Tour
If you’re after an authentic Arab experience with a touch of pirate flair, this Pirates of Arabia tour is the one you cannot miss! In a city where old meets new, The Black Pearl is bringing you your ideal city tour with a twist.
This is a fantastic family day out, fun for adults and kiddos alike. This one hour cruise will take you from the Dubai Creek Harbour through the Mangroves, passing by the Flamingos at Ras Al Khor Sanctuary, into the Dubai Canal, and so much more before returning to port.
The tour comes with free coffee. And you don’t have to worry about mobility because the ship is both stroller and wheelchair accessible.
7. The Wonder Maze at Riverland Dubai
Make your way through the largest mobile maze in the world, stretching over 25,000 sq. ft., with nearly 3,000 meter of paths. Spend hours laughing together and at each other as you and your family members try to make your way out.
The best part is that you can visit again and again since the maze is designed and developed in modules – so the system of the paths is changed regularly. Make it to the center and you’ll find a viewing platform towering 5 meters high. There is also a direct “Quick Exit” route out of the maze, without having to walk all the way back again.

8. Kids Eat FREE at The Galleria Al Maryah Island
Head out to more than 20 of your favourite restaurants, casual dining outlets and ice creameries over at The Galleria Al Maryah Island where your kiddos can eat for FREE! Valid Sunday to Thursday, throughout the day, you and your little ones are in for a treat with a wide range of exciting dining outlets offering a free kids meal with any adult meal purchased.
Participating outlets include: P.F. Chang’s, La Brioche, Blaze Pizza, Taqado, Nolu’s, Eat Greek, Bombay Canteen, Royal Orchid, Sushi Art, Tortilla, Biryani Pot, LPM Restaurant & Bar, Raising Cane’s and Charley’s.
9. Cinema in the Park
Spend a beautiful evening on the stunning grounds of Umm Al Emarat Park, watching all your favourite family movies. Be sure to check the full schedule for which movies are playing when, so you don’t miss your little one’s favourite characters up on the big screen.
This upcoming weekend, you and the kiddies can snuggle down for Smurfs: The Lost Village, The Lion King and Hop The Movie.
10. Animal Barn at Umm Al Emarat Park
If your little ones are fans of animals, you absolutely have to head to Umm Al Emarat Park’s Animal Barn where you’ll find ponies, rabbits, tortoises, pygmy goats, and camels. Plus, you can also now meet three inquisitive Emu Birds.
The Animal Barn will have a limited capacity of 12 people at a time. Additionally, activities such as riding ponies and camels, and feeding the animals will remain suspended until further notice.
